Cale had a hard time remembering where Kahlan's place was. He'd been there before, once, when they worked on their history assignment but not since then. He just ran into their history professor, Mr. Seymour, while leaving the cafeteria whom returned their written report, laden with comments and topped off with their grade. Cale had thumbed through the report, taking note of the red pen marks, reading a couple, but avoiding the last page where his fate lay. If he didn't get at least a B on this assignment, he was failing and would either have to withdraw before term ended or take the grade, which would tank his GPA. He decided to let Kahlan do the honors, she seemed to have more luck than him. He might have already jinxed them from touching the folder and could only hope Kahlan's luck was strong enough to reverse his and save their (or rather his) ass. He thought their presentation was dynamite, but Seymour might have had other opinions. He'd just have to wait and see. Calder scanned the buildings on the street, slowed almost to a crawl so when he stopped suddenly he wouldn't go flying forward. Good thing too, cause a few seconds later he had a flash of recognition and stopped in front of Kahlan's place. He hoped to God she was home, cause he couldn't wait much longer without peeking. They had made plans to hang out at the beach later anyway, but that didn't mean she would wait around all day. He didn't expect her too, either. But, if she happened to be home, they could probably head down a bit early. Grabbing the folder, Cale headed up the walk and banged on the door, rather persistently. "Kahl?! Kahlan, are you home?! It's an emergency!" Okay, so he was exaggerating just a tad, but to him this was serious business. kahlan artemis moore

Kahlan stared down at the clothes laid out on her bed. She had absolutely no idea what she wanted to wear to the beach today. It probably didn’t help that she had an entire walk in closet full of clothes to choose from. She sighed, shifting through the various items, tossing ones she wouldn’t even consider into a pile on the floor and ones she thought she might wear into another pile on her bed. By the time it was actually time to go to the beach she likely still wouldn’t have made a decision. “You’re room is such a mess.” Kahlan jumped at the male voice and then sighed as she turned around to see her twin brother, Will, standing in the doorway. She glared at him and threw the pair of shorts in her hand towards his head. She cursed when he snatched them out of the air before they even reached him. “It’s cleaner than yours,” she shot back. Which would not be true in the slightest on a normal day as Will was a bit of a neat freak. However, Kahlan knew he had torn the place up the other night looking for his iPod, which had mysteriously disappeared. He had quickly figured out after tossing his room upside down that she was responsible and she was just waiting for the moment when he tried to return the favor. “Not anymore,” he threw back and she just rolled her eyes. Of course he would have cleaned it. She turned her back on him and went back to shuffling through her clothes. “Where are you going today?” Kahlan didn’t even pause in her sorting. “Calder and I are going to the beach.” She could practically feel her brother rolling his eyes behind her back. “Oh shut up! You spend all your free time trying to convince Elaina to go out with you.” She had him there and she had to bite her lower lip to keep from smiling. “She’ll come around. You just wait.” Now Kahlan was the one to roll her eyes. “Sure she will.” It was then that there was a loud knocking on the door and Kahlan jumped again. She didn’t know why she was so jumpy today. "Kahl?! Kahlan, are you home?! It's an emergency!" Calder, of course. She turned to leave her room and just managed to catch the gleam in her brother’s eye. Oh crap. They took off racing for the door at the same time. Will was ahead of her, though, but she was faster. Will reached the door just seconds before Kahlan did. He was too busy fighting to keep Kahlan back to say anything, though. “Will! Get. Out. Of. The. Way!!” It certainly had to be a sight, watching the two of them fight for control of the door. Kahlan finally won when she forced the heel of her foot onto his toes. He yelled and cursed, but released his hold on the door. Kahlan was breathing heavy from the struggle. She pushed her hair from her eyes and turned her dark eyes to Calder. “Hey. Sorry ‘bout that. You said there was an emergency?”
