-----There he went again, saying something about that failed relationship of hers when it was probably way too soon. Micah didn’t mean to seem as though he was insensitive toward his friend and her current situation, and hopefully Evie knew that. It was just that Micah liked to fix things with humor, or to brush the big stuff off as though it were absolutely nothing to worry about. Some didn’t know how he functioned that way, but Micah knew that there was really no reason to worry about things the way that people did. Worrying never fixed anything, and neither did treating yourself like crap for a mistake that you had made. Micah waited for Evie’s response and was surprised to see a grin still on her lips, but also grateful. After what they had just shared, it would have been a shame to ruin it all because what he had meant as a simple joke had upset her once again. He chuckled softly. “I am a proud man, and I’ll have my own opinions, but I wouldn’t want to impose them on you.” Especially when he thought what he had said had been borderline insulting as it was. Of course he would very much like to say that the sex they had could only surpass what she had previously shared with Jem, but while Micah was proud he was not arrogant. He knew how things could be different between couples, and although there was definitely something different between himself and Evie now he wouldn’t dare to say that it was better because he didn’t know what she was thinking or feeling, or even if she was doing those things at all right now. He had been her distraction, but Mike appreciated that moment just the same. He couldn’t stop grinning as she kissed him again, and then complimented them. “Well I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks so.” Micah was still being playful, leaning up and capturing her lips in his, absolutely crazy about the way it made him feel to be kissing her. When he finally pulled away from her, he just leaned back, looking up into the gorgeous face of hers. “I really am sorry that things between you and Jem didn’t work, but God I’m glad you’re here.” If Micah had it his way, Evie would never have gotten her heart broken and if that meant that she stayed with Jem then so be it. But, he couldn’t deny that having her there with him in that moment made him happy, and in a way that he had never really experienced before. evie / amber!

rather hurt than feel nothing at all there was something about him that was different, and it was hard to put her finger on it. the way that she looked at him and the way that they were easily lost in each other was completely intoxicating. evelyn could lay like this with him forever it seemed, and sure she loved jem and was deeply hurt by how they had fallen to pieces again but if that was what it took for her to be there with micah she couldn’t really complain. he made her happy and made her feel safe. something that no one was really able to do, because she kept them all at an arms length. no one dared get into her head, and only he really knew how broken she truly was. that was why she had not been angry or hurt by his remark, because their sex was just as good as her mind blowing make up sex. it was not hard to understand, just understanding why she felt the way she did about him was. evie listened to him and she just shook her head. “it would only be imposing if i didn’t want to know what you were thinking, mike. so please share these opinions of yours.” maybe she needed to hear this just to see if he felt the same thing going on between them. evie really wanted to believe that she was not going crazy or that what she was feeling was not just her being heartbroken and wanting someone to fill the void. stealing kissing and how his lips lingered on hers made shivers go down her spine, but she could stay there staring into his blue eyes for eternity. “nope, not the only one. but i’m glad you think we are pretty damn perfect too.” she was all grins as she spoke to him. only mike would be able to make her feel this lighthearted after everything that had happened that evening. he rescued her when she needed it, and the only thoughts on her mind right now was him. when he started speaking again, evie found herself climbing on top of him. straddling him so it was easier to talk, but she smiled brightly at him. sure the situation was not great between herself and jem, but she was glad she was back on that boat with him. micah didn’t know that, so said playfully, “oh is that so? and why are you so glad that i am here micah? this girl really wants to know.” her lips already barely above his skin before placing a few kisses on his chest and up to his neck waiting to hear why he was so glad that she was back. tagged for: micah david orsino // word count: 468 // notes: perfection <3 // credit: to luna love bug <3

-----It was hard to believe that not too long ago, she had been marching down the road, hell bent on doing everything but not getting into the truck with Micah. Evie could really have a hot and cold personality sometimes, but it kept life interesting and Micah always knew that sooner or later, she would give in and they would be friends again. She may not always like him and the shit he put her through, but Mike really did whatever he thought was in the best interest of his friend. Right now, keeping his mouth shut would be in her best interest and his because these inklings of feelings were very new and she had just fallen out of a pretty serious relationship. That didn’t mean that it wasn’t going to be difficult, though, especially when she looked at him with those deep brown eyes of hers. “My opinion is that there is no way in hell of topping that,” he said with a grin, knowing that was how he was feeling but also kidding just a little as he was never a man to be quite so full of himself. But, she had asked and that was his opinion of having sex with her. That had been above and beyond just a physical connection, and it had definitely made an impression but he would say no more. They both agreed that it had been perfect, and it was easy to talk about just they physical side of this. That’s what they had always had before, and it was something that Micah hadn’t been expecting to happen again after her relationship with Jem had taken off again. It was something of a pleasant surprise, even though Micah was sad that Evie had had to go through hell once again to get her back in his arms. Expressing that he had glad to have her back with him had just been something he couldn’t really deny and he thought she needed to hear. But then her body was straddling his, and she was asking for an explanation only to nearly make him forget what they were even talking about when she placed her kisses against his chest and up his neck. “Because you’re Evie, and because you really do mean the world to me. Things are better when you’re around.” And that was as much as he was going to allow himself to say, for her sake and for his own. It was an area that he would tread lightly on before he dared to ask so much of her if Evie would even consider it. Micah let his hand come up to the side of her face then, pushing back her dark long hair and letting his other hand run over her shoulders. He really couldn’t get enough of this woman, and he was more happy about making her forget that she was upset even if it was just for that moment than anything else. evie / amber!

rather hurt than feel nothing at all this whole situation was just crazy, and evie was having a hard time wrapping her head around the fact that she was there with him and feeling how she did. the pieces of her heart were not quite as broken as she thought whenever she lay there wrapped up in the eldest orsino. something about this just felt right, even though it could not possibly be. she had just gotten out of a relationship, one that she had been committed to completely, but now that she was with micah it was far from her mind. the only thing that was there was how his fingers felt against her skin and the little things that they did to each other. the brunette waited, rather patiently in terms of evie garland, for micah’s response to why he wouldn’t share his opinion about their sex. though evie coudln’t help but feel the same way, no matter how she felt about jem there was something about the way that micah was able to make her feel that just had her questioning everything. she smiled brightly at him before speaking softly. “no way in hell, huh? not even if we were to try again? it would just be subpar?” she let a giggle escape her lips as she pulled her hand up to try and cover it up. she knew there was no one that could top that, and it was because it was not just sex anymore. evie knew that there was something there between the two of them and she needed him to give her something to go off of. evie needed to know that this was not all just made up in her head.she was glad to know that he really did miss her because evie missed micah. more than she would ever like to admit, but it was just how he was in her life. when he wasn’t around things seemed to fall apart at the seams all to easily, but if she hadn’t had this fallout she would never realize just what he meant to her. as her lips connected with his skin, she was fairly certain that she was making him forget all about their conversation up until his voice filled the air. “i feel the same about you, micah. i am just glad i realized just how much you mean to me sooner rather than later. you know, you are the only person that can make me smile like i do.” she felt his fingers in her hair, and she just loved the way he touched her. it was those little tender moments that she appreciated more than anything about him. she leaned down to let her lips find his and kissed him sweetly. something that did not normally happen with evie, but that was when her voice came back quietly. “i would be lost without you mike, i care about you more than i probably should..just can you tell me that i’m not crazy and you feel this too.” she needed him to say something, anything to make her feel like she wasn’t alone in this.. tagged for: micah david orsino // word count: 534 // notes: perfection <3 // credit: to luna love bug <3

-----He really couldn’t imagine being with someone else in this moment and enjoying himself as he was right now with Evie. Micah had been in this situation dozens of times before with many different kinds of women, all of them entertaining and amazing in their own ways, but still none of them ever gave him this feeling that Evie could all of a sudden. It was like a switch had been flipped, the light shed and the truth revealed. Micah didn’t understand it at all, but he knew that these were the kinds of things that were not meant to be understood or analyzed again and again until you talk yourself right out of it because there was no way it could just happen this way. This was something that he would let be and he would enjoy while he could. Micah had to grin at her as she giggled, shaking his head. “Oh no, there’s nothing subpar here. I meant that after that, all other men are just going to be a letdown for you.” He winked at her, allowing himself to be a little more playful and suggest that he could truly be better than any other guy out there. “We’ll just keep getting better and better.” That was just a given, right? That grin remained on his lips, loving the easy way their conversations always, always were. Even their bickering in the truck earlier hadn’t been difficult; it had all been natural and it was Micah and Evie going with the flow of things the way that they always had. But, now that flow as going into uncharted waters and Micah desperately wanted to keep his mouth shut about it. He could be Evie’s friend, and he could be whatever else she needed him to be right now in her time of need, but he did not want or need to be the guy that made things ten times more confusing for her right now. However, he knew what the undertones of this conversation were suggesting and he knew how things would go from there. The worst part about it was that he was really unable to prevent any of it because there was also this part of him that wanted to know what she was thinking and feeling, wanted to know that he hadn’t just imagined the change between them as he had walked down the dock to the houseboat earlier that evening. His grin was exchanged for a soft smile as she spoke. Micah was happy to know that he could get her to smile like no one else, because her smile was really magical and she deserved all the reason in the world to share it with others. Then there was that sweet kiss that he knew he could get caught up in if she let him, but Evie’s mind was already working ahead and her next words confirmed what he had been thinking before. He was quiet for a moment, but then he nodded his head slowly. “Yeah, I feel it.” So much for not saying anything about it. A small sigh passed through his lips. “Of course I feel it, but you just had a horrible night and I don’t want to be just another complication for you right now. Take some time to think about it and we’ll figure it out, babe. I’m not going anywhere.” That seemed reasonable, right? evie / amber!

rather hurt than feel nothing at all when micah was around her, there was something so easy about everything. she never had to worry about where their conversations would go. in all honesty she loved the idea that they had the craziest conversations. it made things so much easier, and even when she was angry with him and hurt he still knew what to say to make it all better and take the pain and hurt away from her. never once had he been the cause of that pain and never had he turned his back on her. talking about their amazing sex was one thing that always got evie to smile, because as much as she wanted to say it wasn’t sleeping with micah was never lackluster or lacking emotion. he made her body react to his touch and just thinking about any male being subpar made her smile. mike knew how to bring out her goofy side and she missed this more than anything about who she used to be before all of her hurt feelings got in the way. “oh well that is good then, because i’m fairly certain that no girl will ever be able to blow your mind like i do.” she had a devilish grin on her lips knowing damn well she had the reputation that she did for one reason, but she did care about micah and may very well love him. those were thoughts that she really shouldn’t be thinking or feeling right now. it was just crazy to think that evie had those feelings for anyone tonight. but then again, if it was anyone she should feel that way about it was mike. evie had always known that there was something that could have happened and been amazing, but never acted on those feelings until recently. “i am sure we will, not that we really need to get any better; we are pretty amazing as it is.” which was not a lie. they were perfect and always would be. it was just how they worked, and she just loved being there with him. forgetting about anything and everyone that was not currently wrapped up in a sheet and in that bedroom. it was because she was there and absolutely no other thoughts filled her mind but him that she was finding herself asking questions that she shouldn’t be. this was hard to talk about and very far from the typical micah and evelyn conversations, but she needed to know where his head was. when his voice filled her ears, she felt her heart skip a few beats. it was just something she hadn’t expected. “good, because i really thought i was going crazy for a minute.” when he continued evie had to fight rolling her eyes at him. he was going to start this crap again, just like he tried to tell her that she needed to stop and think about sleeping with him that night when she wandered drunk into his care. if it hadn’t been for that night then they probably wouldn’t be laying there in each other’s arms now. she reached up and rested her hand against his cheek, trying to convey that this was what she wanted even if it scared her shitless. “why do you always insist on making me think about things? remember how that worked the last time, mike? you aren’t a complication...you are the only reason i can find the air to breath.” evie truly thought that without him she would suffocate under all of the pressure she felt, but if he wanted to take some time to figure it out then she understood. “but okay, as long as you promise you aren’t going anywhere! and that i still get to sleep here with you, we can figure it along the way.” that was when evie laid back down beside him and snuggled into his chest and was glad that this was where she ended up. tagged for: micah david orsino // word count: 677 // notes: perfection <3 // credit: to luna love bug <3

-----Micah was not a man that was easily confused. For as fun and carefree as he was, he did have a lot of wit and common sense about him. He had always excelled in school, and he was the kind of guy that you could explain something to once and he just understood without question. He was good at thinking things through quickly and rarely acted without thinking about it first. He was always aware of what consequences were in store for him, but Micah accepted those as they came. It was just hard to get one up on the twenty-seven-year-old unless you took advantage of the times he was so drunk that his mind was completely gone. Having said all of that, it was certainly unsettling for Micah now to be so confused and conflicted about what was happening with Evie. He knew better than to try and understand, but damn it, he didn’t know why it hitting him so hard and fast like this. Micah had experienced immediate attraction to women before, but these were real, honest to God feelings that seemed to have gotten their chance to reach the surface and now they were setting his world on fire. Thankfully, it was easy to talk to Evie and the conversation was going better than Micah expected. He just grinned and rolled his blue eyes at her playfully when she said that no other woman would ever blow his mind like she had. It may very well be the truth, but he didn’t comment. Evie knew that she was good, and she knew that he knew it too. And yeah, she had a point. They were already pretty damn good at this; it would almost seem greedy to expect to be any better. But then came the more serious part of the conversation, and no, Evie wasn’t going crazy. It was easy to see why she would think that, though, considering how quickly things had changed between them and everything that had happened to her earlier that evening. It seemed surreal, but Micah felt a little surer of this now that it was out in the open and he had suggested that she take some time to think it all over. Rushing into another relationship would not be good for her, and he knew it wouldn’t end well for him, either. Micah was completely fine with the idea of taking some time to sort it all out and see what they had here, but he could tell that Evie wasn’t completely thrilled with what he had said. He was just looking out for her and doing what he thought was best; surely even Evie could recognize that. She didn’t seem to think that he was a complication, but there were a thousand ways that things could go wrong and both of them could get hurt if they didn’t at least take some precaution here. But, she seemed to agree with him and accept his terms. “I promise, and I wouldn’t have you sleeping anywhere else.” No, the best place for her was cuddled up right there next to him. Micah let his arm wrap around her and pull her in close before he pressed a sweet kiss to the top of her head. He was still kind of baffled as to how they had even gotten here in the first place, but as long as she was there with him, Micah knew that they would figure it out and that things would be okay. evie / amber!
