today was one of edie's many days off recently, that she spent at the beach, pondering things. pink lips pursed, she stared out at the brilliantly blue sea. waves were gently lapping at her feet and tickling her bare toes. her tennis shoes and socks had been pulled off and thrown to the side, only to get soaked by the water. edie always came down here on her days off. this was the best place for her to clear her mind of all the chaos. edie wasn't much of a 'do-er'. she loved to lay back and relax, not a worry hovering over her mind. over time, that procrastination would pile up and be the source of her stress. she needed to get back into school and get a GED. she also needed to go talk to her manager about this hours problem. they had been cutting her more often lately. if anything, edie was sure she was barely hanging onto her job by a thread. finally laying back, edie didn't listen to all the clamor of the people at the beach. she was far too gone within the confines of her own mind. edie chewed on the inside of her cheek as the sun beat down on her. she was wearing pants and a baggy white tee. she had taken the time to roll up her pant legs as far as they would go on her slim legs. the blonde was most likely going home today with the consolation prize of a sunburn, but all was well. at least she had a good time while laying out in the sun. her fingers melted into the sand and mingled with the grains, getting caught in her fingernails, hair, and clothing. this was something that she would later complain about, when she was finished with relaxing. she pushed herself up onto her bony elbows and rested her hand above her eyes to block out the sun as she glanced about for any familiar people. no one. sitting at the beach by herself was finding a way to become boring pretty quickly.
