Will hated being on this campus when he didn’t have to be. He avoided the place like the plague, dreading the moment when school would start up and he would be forced to be here. But once again Will was here, today because of football. His coach liked to work them year round, shaping them into “perfection” for when the season finally rolled around, which was at the end of the summer. That was over now, though, and so Will was anxious to get home where he could spend the day being lazy and doing nothing. He was on his way out when he ran into his twin sister, Kahlan. Of course he stopped to talk to her. She was walking with a girl that looked familiar to him and it took him a moment to realize that it was because he had seen her around campus on occasion. He may have even had a class with her at one time, but that was questionable. Kahlan introduced him to the girl, but shortly after that she was excusing herself, saying she had to go meet with Calder. He had yet to meet this guy, but he was definitely going to have to, especially since his sister seemed to be taking a liking to him. Left alone with the girl, he smiled at her. She was very pretty, and being the guy that he was, Will definitely noticed. “She does that a lot,” he commented. Kahlan was always running off somewhere or going to meet someone. She was entirely too popular for her own good. “So, Elaina, is it? Nice to finally meet you.” As said earlier, Will had seen her around before. He just never took the time to talk to her before now.

On campus was probably one of the biggest things that annoyed her, yet it helped her get her education for life. The recent girl loved school, but had her reasons of hating it. Today was no different, but she was actually having a good day. There was no lacrosse practice and Sebastian was actually going on with his life since he was out of school work. Her hair was tucked back behind her ears as her hands made it look like she had them crossed. Her pace was slow with Kahlan, talking as they went walking around. That’s good. Are you going to see Calder later? She asked Kahlan. It was when Kahlan brought them over to her brother, and she stayed quiet, letting the sibling duo talk. What surprised her was that she just left, leaving Elaina there with her brother, Will. She wasn’t going to lie, he was pretty cute, but she wasn’t going on with her life. Her guard was always up, no matter how easy going the situations were. Elaina looked back at Will, seeing her friend finally disappear. I’ve noticed. It’s either Calder or someone else. It doesn’t bother me much though. Elaina chirped. She wasn’t that peppy, but it showed that she did have a voice. The wind blew, moving her hair from behind her ears and into her face. Her hands moved them back, giving a slight nod then. You are correct. Nice to meet you too, Will. Her voice spoke again. It was going to be a start, she still didn’t trust guys, but maybe this would start something. But every time she talked to a guy, they just proved her wrong choice. She tells me that you rarely come to school, only when your needed. Elaina spoke softly, but clearly enough for him to hear. She had seen him a few times, never so much face to face, but enough that she knew who he was. Her memory was good, so she could remember seeing him in a class or two, but she kept to herself unless she was with friends. She gave a small smile to him then. This quiet was awkward a bit, but nonetheless it was probably going to change… maybe that is.

Will and Kahlan were almost like a dynamic duo of sorts. Being twins, they were used to being lumped together. That hadn’t really changed as they got older. The siblings were close and they loved to annoy the hell out of each other. They were close where it counted, though. Kahlan was the only girl in their family, and as such, the boys were quite protective over her. Of course, they were also very well aware that she could take care of herself. They had all made sure of that when she was growing up. Still, Will liked to look out for her, just as he knew she did the same for him. There was a great benefit to having Kahlan as a sister, though. She was a very social girl and seemed to always find the hottest female friends, which Will always made sure he got to know. This girl was one of those friends. She seemed rather soft-spoken, though. But Will would have no problem with that. Kahlan wasn’t the only social one in the family. “She tells me that you rarely come to school, only when your needed.” He laughed. It figured that Kahlan would go around telling stories on him. “Yeah. School’s not really my thing. Kahlan got the brains in the family.” He grinned. Not to say that Will wasn’t smart or anything. He just didn’t apply herself. He still somehow managed to make excellent grades, though, and at the end of the day that was all that really mattered. “Not that I don’t ever come to school,” he added. “I just don’t most of the time.” He was silent a moment, seeing if she was going to say anything. “What about you? You a good girl like my sister who comes every day?” That wasn’t a bad thing, really. School just wasn’t for everyone.

Her life was plain, but had a past in itself. Sure everyone had a problem in life, but Elaina had it bad. She wasn’t like Sebastian, who had it lucky. She actually had a guy she loved, who cared for her and wanted to be with her. Yeah, well that changed. She found herself with bruises and cuts and scars. Elaina hid away her bruises and scars by makeup, but the cuts will disappear over time. That’s all she ever says about it, there was no story for her to tell. Well, there was, but she didn’t want to talk about it, it was too painful, even though it had happened years ago. So, since she was always with her cousin, she learned to trust, well slowly, but she’s always kept her guard up, afraid to get hurt again and again. I know. Kahlan is great with it all. I don’t know how she has time with everything. She said with a small smile. Now, she knew he wasn’t calling himself stupid, but he was calling himself average. She knew what average knowledge was like. She was there as well. I think people are like you, they don’t come to school a lot, but they do when they feel the need too. Elaina added shortly. She had no problem with people who wanted to go to school and people who didn’t. It was their life really, so she just let them do whatever they wanted. Elaina bit down on her lip a little bit, nodding slightly at his question towards her. Me, like Kahlan? You’re funny. I come half and half. I don’t have that many classes, so I don’t come a lot. But I have to come when I have lacrosse practice and to practice with my cousin. Yeah, she was one of those girls who did go to school for the classes she needed, yet she was the one who would only show up at times for practices. In the best way to explain it, she only came to school here and there, half and half. But he was right, not everyone was made for school.

“I know. Kahlan is great with it all. I don’t know how she has time with everything.” Will laughed. “Kay makes time. Then again, she has a lot of it. She doesn’t have to work or anything like that.” Will could name several people who had no time at all for anything, and yet they tried to do everything. His friend Aislinn Hunter was a single mother who went to school and worked. She had no time for anything else, and she was exhausted most of the time. Will couldn’t even imagine having something like that in his life. “I think people are like you, they don’t come to school a lot, but they do when they feel the need too.” Will laughed. “It’s not that I feel the need to, but that I get the ‘you’ll come to school or get thrown off the football team’ that usually convinces me I should come.” Yeah, he was such a committed student. Will liked to play it off that he didn’t care, but though he didn’t come to school often, he did make sure his work was done and always turned in. Will just didn’t share that information lightly. “Me, like Kahlan? You’re funny. I come half and half. I don’t have that many classes, so I don’t come a lot. But I have to come when I have lacrosse practice and to practice with my cousin.” Will nodded. So she was a jock. Well, sort of, at least. He could honestly say he knew nothing at all about lacrosse. “Ahh, a fellow jock. I honestly didn’t take you for the type.” To be perfectly honest, he would have thought she was a little goody good who had her nose shoved in a book and knew nothing about life. He had definitely not thought she’d be one to like the physical things. “Not that I know much about your sport. I didn’t even know we had a team.” Though to be perfectly honest he hadn’t really cared to know such things.

Elaina smiled, and then shook her head. She usually got that a lot, the ‘you don’t look the type to play sports’ speech. It didn’t bother her as much as it used too. It had grown a lot on her, so she was quite comfortable with it. She did though, get the ‘you look like a book worm type of girl,’ and she could understand that. They thought that since she always had books in her hands or looked so pure, she was book worm. Really, she just wanted to do her homework and finish it and maintain her grades. People do mistake me for that; I don’t show it off like other people do. It doesn’t bother me much anymore about the whole thing. I’m used to it. Elaina said giving a smile, then another nod. She knew he was on the football team, and he had said it too. She wasn’t going to lie; she had gone to a few games to watch. She was glad she grew up with guys in her family to help her understand. Once again, people had mistaken her for the book worm stuff, and not the girl who knew her sports. We do, mostly away games really. We rarely have a game here. My cousin is on the guy team, I’m on the girls. she said giving a shrug. Elaina sighed a bit, but it was content. Right about now, Elaina looked as if she was one of the lamest people on the whole earth. She was used to that kind of, only because of her guard being up so much and not letting people in. Sure, there was small talk, but it was something that made her socially awkward at times, when really she was probably one of the most sociable people ever. Not that this is going to bother me, but am I boring you? She asked. Elaina just felt like it, I mean, it was just the small talk they were having, but she felt like she was boring him to death. She would understand either way, it had been a while since she had actually had small talk that wasnt bitching out a guy in a long time.. So this was being different for her.

NEVER SAY NEVER, I WILL FIGHT TIL FOREVER It wasn’t an odd thing for Will to drop whatever it was that he had been about to do to stop and talk to a pretty girl. It was rather expected by those that knew him. Will wasn’t shy about his playerish ways or his arrogance. He wore it right there out front, letting the world see it and know it. This conversation was actually a very civil one for Will, not that he wasn’t capable of harmless conversation. Will could be a really sweet guy when he wanted to be. There was just a lot to him. “People do mistake me for that; I don’t show it off like other people do. It doesn’t bother me much anymore about the whole thing. I’m used to it.” Will shrugged his shoulders, not sure why it would bother her in the first place. Most wouldn’t take him for a nice guy, though then again he didn’t really give them a lot of reason to think so. “We do, mostly away games really. We rarely have a game here. My cousin is on the guy team, I’m on the girls.” He nodded, not bothering the hide his surprise at that. “Really? Well, maybe I’ll just have to come to one of these games sometimes.” Not that he would know what was going on. He honestly knew nothing about lacrosse and he would likely be really lost. He would have to base his cheering off of that of the people around him. “Not that this is going to bother me, but am I boring you?” Will uncrossed his arms. “No! Not at all. Don’t be crazy.” He smiled. Will paused for a moment. “Are you hungry?” he asked. “I know this great place not far from here. Want to grab some lunch?” It was an innocent request, right? Very tame compared to what he might usually ask. And they said Will couldn’t be a decent guy. tagged for: elaina brynn la roux // word count: 323 // notes: sorry this took so long!!!

There was a little bit of silence before Elaina gave a small smile then brought on a nod with it. She wasn’t going to show just yet how she thought it was interesting that he was interested in coming to a lacrosse game. They were barely here, but at some times they were. So, it seemed like a good idea to her. Maybe you should. It may not look so fun, but it is. She said giving a smile. Truthfully she had to admit, someone she knew, other than some people, would actually go see her. It was a start for her at least. Besides, it was time she had others finally talk to her about stuff and actually being human about just some random talks. Elaina stood there with a small smile. At least she wasn’t that boring in his opinion to tell the truth. She was boring, so she thought, but knowing that he didn’t think so, it made her feel a bit better. Actually, I am pretty hungry. Elaina spoke, having her arms crossed, like a hugging self basically. For once, it wasn’t a hugging herself for that she was nervous or that she seemed uncomfortable, She was actually content and really into the idea of going to lunch. It would be different, rather than staying home and eating, or heading over to her cousins to eat all of his food before she left. So, lunch would be good for her, since she did have the time to go out, she just never takes the opportunity because there was no point in for her to go by herself.. I’d love to have some lunch. She added seconds later. Her mind was now pondering about where he was going to take her. She knew some good restaurants, but if it was a great place, then she probably never had heard of the one he was talking about in her life.

NEVER SAY NEVER, I WILL FIGHT TIL FOREVER Will had to say, Kahlan sure knew how to pick her friends. Granted, she didn’t always have the best judgment, but Will had definitely benefited from it at times. He had Caisey, who was a lot of fun and one he never would have taken seriously. There were several others like that in his life. Will didn’t think this girl was like that, though. She seemed too nice for the sorts of things that Will got involved in. “Maybe you should. It may not look so fun, but it is.” Will smiled that charming smile of his. He had a feeling that he would be going to one of these games at some point, likely dragging Kahlan or Brody with him. Someone to be completely lost in it with him before he ditched them to, more than likely, go talk to this girl. Cause, let’s face it, Will did such things, and those that knew him expected as much. Guys would ditch just about anyone for a pretty girl, even one they didn’t stand a chance with. “Actually, I am pretty hungry. I’d love to have some lunch.” Will was pleasantly surprised to hear that. Not that he had doubted his ability in getting her to agree to go somewhere with him. Will was no stranger to this sort of thing, and he was good at it. “Great!” He smiled. “Would you like me to drive?” He visited this place he was taking her often, mostly because his close friend worked there and he was always stopping by to bug her. Besides, they had pretty good food. tagged for: elaina brynn la roux // word count: 267 // notes: sorry, this really sucks.
